Example Notice Affording Opportunity for Public Hearing

"The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is planning to upgrade I-37 in the vicinity of the Alamodome. Changes will include: removing the I-37 southbound cloverleaf exit to Market Street and the ramp from Market Street to I-37 southbound; replacement of the exit ramp from Market Street to I-37 southbound; the addition of a direct I-37 southbound connection to Durango Boulevard; the construction of a turnaround on the north side of Durango Boulevard; and a northbound frontage road between Durango Boulevard and Market Street. These changes are designed to alleviate anticipated congestion generated by travel to and from the Alamodome multi-use stadium.

"Maps and other drawings showing the proposed location and design, environmental studies, information about the relocation assistance program and information about the tentative schedules for construction on these proposed improvements are available for inspection and copying at TxDOT's San Antonio District Office, located at 4615 NW Loop 410, and at TxDOT's Area Engineer Office, located at 2300 Roosevelt Avenue in San Antonio.

"The project will not require any additional right of way and no displacement of residences or businesses will be involved.

"Anyone may request that a public hearing be held covering the social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed location and design for this highway project by delivering or mailing a written request on or before January 20, 2004. Notice of Public Hearing

"The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, July 14, 2004, at 7:00 p. m. in the meeting room of University Savings and Loan. University Savings and Loan is located at 308 E. Hopkins in San Marcos. The purpose of this hearing is to discuss the improvement of Loop 82 (Aquarena Springs Drive/University Drive) from I-35 to Bugg Lane. The proposed project will replace the existing two lane undivided road with a four lane divided roadway, including a 14-foot continuous left turn lane and curb and gutter throughout the project limits. The improvement of Loop 82 will require approximately 1.5 acres of additional right of way. All of this right of way is from an existing parking lot, so there will be no residential or commercial relocations.

"Maps and other drawings showing the proposed location and design will be displayed at the hearing. The Environmental Assessment for the project will also be available for inspection at the hearing. Other information about the proposed project is on file and available for inspection and copying. This material is available at TxDOT's Austin District Office, located at 7901 North I-35 in Austin.

"Information about the relocation assistance program and relocation assistance office will be discussed.

"All interested citizens are invited to attend this hearing. Persons interested in attending the hearing that have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to contact the district public information officer at (512) 388-3253 at least two days prior to the hearing. Because the public hearing will be conducted in English, any requests for language interpreters or other special communication needs should also be made at least two days prior to the public hearing. TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these needs.

"Verbal and written comments from the public regarding this project are requested. Comments may be presented either at the hearing or in writing after the hearing. Written statements and other exhibits may be mailed to the deputy district engineer at: TxDOT Austin District, P. O. Drawer 15426, Austin, TX 78761.
