Role of the Department

During any major emergency or disaster, the department may be required to provide assistance both on and off the right of way due to its personnel and equipment resources. Disaster emergency services provided to the public by the department should be in accordance with the State Emergency Management Plan. Each district must develop and distribute standard operating procedures for emergency preparation, response and recovery. All employees must be trained in the standard operating procedures.
