Section 2: Highway Status Updates

Other than Emergency Route Closings Status

When all TRM roadway elements exist on the roadbed, TPP and Districts may update the highway status to a 5 (Open to traffic, district data complete) or 6 (Open to traffic, all data complete):

For TPP Highway Status updates, valid values are 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6. Do not change status to a 6 unless it is currently a 5
For District Highway Status updates, valid values are 4 and 5. All required elements for the specified roadbed must exist on the roadbed in TRM before updating the Highway Status to 5 or 6.

Follow these input instructions to update highway status other than Emergency Closing

Step	Action	Input
1	(For instructions to log onto the system, click this link) From the TPP or District Database Maintenance screen, select Update-Code 13H and press <E>; the TPP/District Maintenance Submenu appears.	-
2	Input an X by Job Location—Length and press <E>; the Job Location Data Screen appears.	-
3	Input Location Key fields	Signed Highway System, Number, and Suffix From Reference Marker Number and Suffix, (+) or (–) Sign, and Displacement To Reference Marker Number and Suffix, (+) or (–) Sign, and Displacement Roadbed-Id: valid values are K, L, R, M, S, P, T, A, B, X, or Y
4	Input Highway Status field and press <F2>; the message “Transaction completed successfully” displays.	Highway Status
5	To exit back to the TPP/District Maintenance Submenu, press <F3>. To input another Update-Code, press <F3> twice to exit back to the TPP/District Database Maintenance Menu. To exit back to the TRM Main Menu, press <F10>. (For instructions to log off the system, click this link)	-

Emergency Route Closings Status

TxDOT temporarily closes routes to protect the traveling public and provide safety to workers as a result of emergency situations, such as:

a hazardous chemical spill
a bridge washed out by flood
accident damage to a structure.

Any user may enter an Emergency Closing.

Follow these input instructions to close route or route segments in TRM:

1	(For instructions to log onto the system, click this link) From the TRM Main Menu, select G; the Emergency Closing screen appears.	-
2	Input Location Key fields	Signed Highway System, Number, and Suffix From Reference Marker Number and Suffix, (+) or (–) Sign, and Displacement To Reference Marker Number and Suffix, (+) or (–) Sign, and Displacement Roadbed-Id: valid values are K, L, R, M, S, P, T, A, B, X, or Y
3	Input Notation field and press <F2>; the system sets segment to Highway Status value 7 in TRM and displays a verification message.	Notation indicating the reason for the closure.
